Helicobacter pylori infection contributes to the development of various
gastroduodenal disorders. Clinical manifestation after H. pylori infection is an important
issue for gastroenterologist. Design and optimizing usage of new drugs against H. pylori
has always been a major topic in Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) research. There are
many articles published over the last decade on H. pylori treatment and diagnosis. Since
the incidence, virulence, and resistance of H. pylori are different for each region
diagnosis and treatment require a local approach. Iran is a country with a high rate of H.
pylori infection and consequently a huge number of patients suffer from H. pylori
induced digestive diseases. In this chapter we will present a comprehensive summary on
H. pylori epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment in Iran over the last years.
