This chapter contains additional topics of time-independent QM: Critically
examinations of the ‘tunnel effect’ and ‘quantum leaps’, the occupation number
representation (because of its relationship to the factorization of the classical
Hamiltonian), energy versus (effective) extension, and the absence of ‘quantum states
at rest’. I hope this helps the reader to grasp something more of the meaning of QM.
Keywords: Energy, Extension, Occupation number representation, Rest, Tunnel
effect.
