Dr. Percy N.P. Portella did bachelor’s in Human Medicine in (1986), Medical Doctor in (1986), Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology (1991) from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima, Peru, and master’s in Public Health and Global Health from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in (2016) Lima, Peru. Dr. Pacora has been a research fellow at the Perinatology Research Branch, Division of Obstetrics and Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Division of Intramural Research, Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, National Institute of Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (NICHD/NIH/DHHS), Bethesda, Maryland, and Detroit, Michigan, USA. With more 25 years in the field of obstetrics and maternal fetal medicine, Dr. Pacora has contributed in the study of prediabetes, gestational diabetes, the amniotic fluid in the host response to intra-amniotic infection, placental pathology in the fetal inflammatory response syndrome, pathogenesis of placental abruption, the mechanism of fetal death, and biomarkers of preeclampsia among other complications in pregnancy.
