Hary Razafindralambo received a Ph.D. in Agronomic Sciences and Biological Engineering (1996) and a master’s degree in Chemistry and Bio-industries (1990) from the Gembloux Agricultural University in Belgium. He is currently a leader scientist of e-Lab for multidisciplinary Science and Technology Abreast. His research expertise and interests are the physical chemistry of biological and food systems focused on colloids and interfaces, synergism, and interactions of nutraceuticals, probiotic metabolites, and lactic bacteria. He is (co)-author of more than 110 scientific outputs, including original research and review papers, book chapters, patent, and recently editor of the book Trends in Probiotic Applications.

Dr. Alejandra Cardelle Cobas received a Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology and Chemical Engineering, from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain) in 2009. During her career, she stayed in other research European centers as well as short stays in different laboratories of Latin America. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela, in the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Nutrition and Bromatology. Her main research expertise and interests are functional foods, ingredients and gut microbiota modulation. She is (co-) author of about 60 scientific papers, including original research and review papers along with book chapters and patents. Her Scopus score is 45 publications, with an h-index= 22.

Dr. Andrea Gómez-Zavaglia is the Principal Investigator of the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET, Argentina) and Director of the Center for Research and Development in Food Cryotechnology (CIDCA, depending from CONICET and the National University of La Plata Argentina). She is a Visiting Professor at the Universities of Vigo (2009), Autonomous from Madrid (since 2010), Paris Diderot (since 2014), Paris Descartes (since 2016), AgroParisTech (2019) and member of the Academic Staff of the Graduates Program in Chemical Sciences (National University of Tucumán, Argentina since 2011). She has published more than 150 articles in peer reviewed international journals (h-index: 26), is a co-inventor of 5 patents, and 1 product in the market. She is an Associate Editor of Frontiers in Microbiology. She has supervised 10 PhD theses, 6 Assistant researchers, and 10 postdocs.

Professor Tse-Min Lee received B.Sc. degree from National Taiwan University in 1984, MS degree from National Taiwan University in 1986, and Ph.D. degree from National Taiwan University in 1990. Then, he worked at the Institute of Botany, Academia Sinica, Taiwan as a post-doctoral fellow during 1990-1994. In 1995, he worked as a Professor in National Sun Yat-sen University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. His research is focused on seaweed physiology, antioxidant defense system and redox signaling in microalgal stress response, the application of microalgae for bioenergy and aquaculture, and the algal extract on microbial community in soil for crop cultivation.

Dr. Ana Raquel Madureira is a senior researcher at CBQF from Catholic University. In the last 15 years, she was involved in several industry-led projects with companies for the establishment of an integrated valorization strategy for their by-products and development of new products. She is a Lead Researcher of Alchemy PROJECT R&D+I consisting of the creation of a center of excellence in Portugal focused on the areas of Biotechnology and Circular Economy consisting in the development of new molecules of high commercial interest for food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. She is the coordinator of the Alchemy microbiome platforms (GIOTA and SKINBIOME) for the development of human and animal digestive and skin simulation models that allow the evaluation of microbiota modulation by bioactive and prebiotic compounds that can be used in the development of human and animal feed and prebiotic skincare products.

Lynne V. McFarland is a world expert on C. difficile disease and the clinical uses of probiotics. She received her Master’s degree in Microbiology from Portland State University, Portland Oregon in 1980 and her PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Washington, Seattle Washington in 1988. Since then she has published over 160 peer-reviewed scientific articles, authored two books, served on editorial boards of over 6 journals, was a reviewer for over 30 journals and is an international speaker on probiotics and C. difficile infections. She is an affiliate associate professor at the U. of Washington and was a health science research specialist for 14 years at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.

Dr. Sahoo graduated in in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry in 1988 from OUAT, Bhubaneswar and then, MVSc in Animal Nutrition in 1990 and PhD in Animal Nutrition in 1994 from Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izatnagar. He started professional career as Scientist at IVRI in 1993 and then selected as Senior Scientist in 2001 and Principal Scientist in 2006. He undertook post-doctoral research programme at CERAR, University of South Australia. He was awarded the Endeavour Research Fellowship by Government of Australia during 2009-10. He worked extensively in the field of Animal Nutrition and Feeding involving both ruminant and non-ruminant species and the contribution in the field of neonatal and post-natal nutrition, rumen fermentation and manipulation, usage of probiotics and plant bioactives, clinical & therapeutic nutrition and nutrition-environment interaction draws critical appreciation. He has published >150 research papers in journals of high repute with >2000 citations, i10-index 52 and h-index 20.

Professor Elizabeth M. Sajdel-Sulkowska, a neuroscientist, holds BS, MS, and D.Sc. (1972) degrees from MIT and has been a faculty member of Harvard Medical School Dept. of Psychiatry for over four decades. Her research mainly focused on the mechanisms involved in the gene-environment interactions during brain neurodevelopment using animal models and examining the effects of toxins, infections, and altered gravity (NASA). She is an author and co-author of numerous book chapters, articles in leading journals, and conferences bridging fundamental neuroscience and neuropsychiatry. Her recent research focuses on the role of the gut- brain axis in the neurodevelopmental outcome of maternal depression during pregnancy and potential issues associated with COVID-19.

Dr. Sun is the Professor and PhD supervisor in Fisheries college, Jimei University, China. He leads the aquatic animals intestinal microbes research group from 2007, and was the head of the Animal nutrition and feed teaching and research department since 2015. He has led more than ten government funded projects, all involving aquatic animals’ intestinal microbes and nutritional modulation. His expertise is in intestinal microbes of aquatic animals and published over 30 papers in peer-reviewed international journals. He is the reviewer of more than 20 well known international journals.

He is currently Professor and PhD supervisor at Feed Research Institute of CAAS in the area of animal nutrition and feed sciences, with emphasis on young animal nutrition and metabolic regulations, feed nutritional value evaluation, and feed additives research and development. Then, he continued his PhD study in Gunma University Graduate Medical School, Japan in 2013 under the supervision ofProf Noriyuki Koibuchi (PhD), one of the world’s known researcher of Endocrinology. His project is focus to elaborate about sport molecular endocrinology, particularly exploring the role of thyroid hormone in exercise. Then, he spent two and half years as a part time lecturer and researcher in DUKE-NUS Singapore under the supervision Prof Paul Michael Yen (2013-2015). Since 2015, he has been actively working in Central Laboratory, as Head of the biological activity.
