Dr. Bishop obtained degrees from the University of St. Andrews (BSc) and the University of Cambridge (PhD). He subsequently established an academic career at the University of New South Wales in Sydney – where he currently works as an Emeritus Professor. Jie-Sheng Chen is a professor in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. In 1979, he entered Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, majoring in chemistry, from where he obtained MSc degree in 1986. After receiving PhD degree, in 1989, from Jilin University in Changchun, he worked there shortly as a lecturer, until he moved to Davy Faraday Research Laboratory, the Royal Institution of Great Britain (London), in 1990, to work as a postdoctor. He discovered that the microporous solids SAPO-18 and the metal-substituted analogues function as superb catalysts for methanol-to-olefin conversion.
In 1994, he returned to Jilin University and was promoted to professor later on. In 1995, he became the vice director of the State Key Laboratory of Inorganic Synthesis and Preparative Chemistry. In 2008, he moved to Shanghai Jiao Tong University, continuing his research in the area of solid state materials, focusing on the interfacial interactions of material components and the electrochemical and catalytic performances of composite materials. Jie-Sheng Chen has published over 280 peer-reviewed papers in the fields of chemistry and materials, and has also received a number of honors, awards and prizes in the past.

Majid M Heravi was born in 1952 in Mashhad, Iran. He received his B. Sc. degree from the National University of Iran in 1975. M. Sc. and Ph. Prof. Dr. Volker Hessel studied chemistry at Mainz University (PhD in organic chemistry, 1993). Wai-Yeung Wong received BSc (1992) and PhD (1995) degrees from the University of Hong Kong. After a postdoctoral year with Prof. F. Albert Cotton in Texas A&M University in 1996, he worked for Profs. The Lord Jack Lewis (FRS) and Paul R. Raithby at the University of Cambridge in 1997. He joined Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) as an Assistant Professor in 1998, rising through the academic ranks to Chair Professor in Chemistry in 2011. He served as the Head of the Chemistry Department at HKBU from 2014 to 2016. Recently, he has moved to work at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University as the Chair Professor of Chemical Technology.
