Special Issue Information:
Metabolic diseases, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, and metabolic syndrome, represent a significant global health challenge. Their increasing prevalence, complex etiology, and the limitations of existing therapeutic interventions underscore the need for novel and sustainable approaches to tackle these conditions. Natural products derived from plants, microorganisms, marine organisms, and other sources have gained attention for their potential therapeutic properties in metabolic diseases.
Scope and Objectives:
This proposed special issue aims to compile cutting-edge research and reviews that explore the therapeutic potential of natural products in managing and preventing metabolic diseases. The objectives of this special issue are:
(a) To provide an overview of the current state of knowledge regarding the use of natural products in the treatment and prevention of metabolic diseases.
(b) To highlight recent advancements in the identification, isolation, and characterization of bioactive compounds from natural sources with metabolic benefits.
(c) To discuss the mechanisms of action of natural products in metabolic diseases, including their impact on metabolic pathways, inflammation, oxidative stress, and insulin sensitivity.
(d) To present clinical studies and evidence supporting the efficacy and safety of natural products as adjunctive or standalone therapies for metabolic diseases.
(e) To explore the potential synergistic effects of natural products with conventional treatments in metabolic disease management.
(f) To identify gaps in the current research and propose future directions for investigation in this field.
