Ricardo Jorge Dinis-Oliveira, is a European PhD, DSc, and is a Forensic Sciences Expert, namely in Toxicology and Forensic Medicine areas. He developed the scientific and academic activity in the areas of Toxicology and Pharmacology of Psychoactive Substances, Pesticides and Medicines, in their preclinical, clinical and forensic aspects and in Forensic Medicine, namely the development of mathematical models to calculate the postmortem interval, known as the Holy Grail of Forensic Sciences. He is an Associate Professor with Aggregation at the University Institute of Health Sciences and of the Faculty of Medicine of University of Porto. He is an Integrated Researcher at UCIBIO-REQUIMTE - Applied Molecular Biosciences Unit/ Associated Laboratory for Green Chemistry, Clean Technologies and Processes and at the IINFACTS. He is the founder and current President of the Portuguese Association of Forensic Sciences (APCF).

His research interests are Genetics, Toxicology, Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology. He has more than 30 peer reviewed publications, and 2 books. He is on the editorial board of a number of journals, and also serves as associate editor and editor in many journals.

Dr. Maria Joao Vidal-Alves received her Bacheclor’s in Psychology and MS in Forensic Sciences, she is presently undertaking her doctorate research from the University of Murcia, Spain and is a teaching assistant in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) and the University Institute of Health Sciences, besides collaborating with the Catholic University of Porto. She is also a psychologist at the Student Psychological Support Center of FMUP. Her research has focused on intimate partner violence and child abuse/neglect. She is currently enrolled in a research project about workplace violence in healthcare and another on abusive head trauma prevention.

Dr. Hassan Bousbaa is an Associate Professor of Cellular and Molecular Biology at the Universitary Institute of Health Sciences (IUCS) of CESPU and has a PhD in Life and Health Sciences from the University of Paris-Est Créteil, France (1993). He did Post-doc in 1994 from the Institute of Cancer Research, CNRS, Villejuif, France, and a Post-doc fellow (1994-1998) at the lab of Molecular Genetics of Mitosis at IBMC/i3S, of the University of Porto. Since 2012, he is the Director of the IINFACTS, and in charge of organizing and promoting research activities within CESPU. Dr. Hassan's research focused on unveiling the mechanisms of cell division (mitosis) in somatic cells in order to understand how errors in chromosome segregation arise and lead to genomic instability in cancer; exploiting the clinical relevance of mitosis regulation/control mechanisms to identify novel cancer diagnostic and prognostic markers. He was part of the pioneering team that identified and characterized the genes involved in the mitotic checkpoint signaling, such as Bub1, BubR1, Bub3, and Mad2, in Drosophila melanogaster. Dr. Hassan has published more than 50 publications. Since 2014, he is the coordinator of PhD program in Biological Sciences Applied to Health, at CESPU.

Her research focuses on maltreatment and sexual assault detection and diagnosis, supporting the necessary treatment, protection, security, and criminal measures, as well as in personal injury assessment and compensation.

Dr. Emilio Nuzzolese is a Forensic Odontologist, Researcher and Professor in Legal Medicine. He is Head of the Human Identification Laboratory, University of Turin, Italy. He graduated in dentistry (DDS) and in Science in Law (LLB) from the University of Bari, Italy. He holds a Research Doctorate degree (PhD) in Analytic Morphometry. Dr. Emilio is an expert witness in Civil/Penal Court and Human Rights activist. He is a member of INTERPOL DVI Forensic Odontology Sub-Working Group since 2010 and a founder of Civil Protection Association Dental Team DVI Europe. He remained a co-founder and President during 2019-2021 of the Association Forensic Odontology for Human Rights and a fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, since 2011. Besides, he is an Officer of the Italian Red Cross Military Corp and the Reserve Medical Corp IT Army.

Dr. Deepak Rawtani, M.E, PhD (CEng) is an Associate Professor of Nanotechnology and Associate Dean School of Pharmacy at National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar. His research is focused on forensic nanobiotechnology with special emphasis on DNA‐nanoparticle interaction and functionalization of halloysite nanotubes for enzyme immobilization, drug delivery, environmental applications. Dr. Rawtani is the author of more than 60 scientific papers and handbooks in his research domain with journals of international repute. Besides being a researcher, he is also a NABL empaneled Technical Assessor (ISO/IEC 17025).

Dr. Helena Isabel Ribeiro is a Palynologist at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto. Her specific areas of interest are pollen sampling and identification using microscopic and spectroscopic techniques and related data analysis. She is also interested in applying new pollen identification methods in the forensic context. Dr. Ribeiro teaches Palynology and Aerobiology at the Master and PhD courses on Forensic Sciences and is engaged in several seminars for high school students and workshops related to palynology.

Dr. Jun Zhang currently serves as a professor and Dean of Chemistry in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Inner Mongolia University. Dr. Zhang earned his Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from the College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering of Peking University in 2002. He was then invited to The French Institute of Health and Medical Research, Strasbourg, France for one year of postdoctoral research. He was appointed as a senior research scientist by Nomadics Inc.,Oklahoma, USA, from 2004-2006. Dr. Zhang’s research mainly focuses on rare earth and transition metal-based nanostructures for catalytic applications. Dr. Zhang has authored and co-authored more than 100 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.

She then moved to the State University of New York (SUNY) – Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, USA, where she works as a Research Scientist. She has attended numerous international conferences as a speaker and is actively involved in teaching trainees by providing teaching conferences.
