Ricardo Jorge Dinis-Oliveira, is a European PhD, DSc, and is a Forensic Sciences Expert, namely in Toxicology and Forensic Medicine areas. He developed the scientific and academic activity in the areas of Toxicology and Pharmacology of Psychoactive Substances, Pesticides and Medicines, in their preclinical, clinical and forensic aspects and in Forensic Medicine, namely the development of mathematical models to calculate the postmortem interval, known as the Holy Grail of Forensic Sciences. He is an Associate Professor with Aggregation at the University Institute of Health Sciences and of the Faculty of Medicine of University of Porto. He is an Integrated Researcher at UCIBIO-REQUIMTE - Applied Molecular Biosciences Unit/ Associated Laboratory for Green Chemistry, Clean Technologies and Processes and at the IINFACTS. He is the founder and current President of the Portuguese Association of Forensic Sciences (APCF).
Aurelio Luna is a medical specialist in Legal Medicine and Occupational Medicine, M.D., PhD. He has been a full professor of Forensic Medicine since 1985 in the Medical school of Cordoba and Murcia Spain. He is a researcher in forensic pathology, forensic toxicology and thanatochemistry. He has more than 330 papers published in scientific journals, and 110 articles in scientific books.
Dr. Serkan Yilmaz is serving as Professor, in Ankara University Faculty of Nursind and Institute of Forensic Sciences. He did his Ph.D in Genetics from Gazi University, Turkey. He is an official member of a number of international societies. He received awards from The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, Gazi University and Ankara University. His research interests are Genetics, Toxicology, Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology. He has more than 30 peer reviewed publications, and 2 books. He is on the editorial board of a number of journals, and also serves as associate editor and editor in many journals.
Dr. Maria Joao Vidal-Alves received her Bacheclor’s in Psychology and MS in Forensic Sciences, she is presently undertaking her doctorate research from the University of Murcia, Spain and is a teaching assistant in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) and the University Institute of Health Sciences, besides collaborating with the Catholic University of Porto. She is also a psychologist at the Student Psychological Support Center of FMUP. Her research has focused on intimate partner violence and child abuse/neglect. She is currently enrolled in a research project about workplace violence in healthcare and another on abusive head trauma prevention.
Dr. Hassan Bousbaa is an Associate Professor of Cellular and Molecular Biology at the Universitary Institute of Health Sciences (IUCS) of CESPU and has a PhD in Life and Health Sciences from the University of Paris-Est Créteil, France (1993). He did Post-doc in 1994 from the Institute of Cancer Research, CNRS, Villejuif, France, and a Post-doc fellow (1994-1998) at the lab of Molecular Genetics of Mitosis at IBMC/i3S, of the University of Porto. Since 2012, he is the Director of the IINFACTS, and in charge of organizing and promoting research activities within CESPU. Dr. Hassan's research focused on unveiling the mechanisms of cell division (mitosis) in somatic cells in order to understand how errors in chromosome segregation arise and lead to genomic instability in cancer; exploiting the clinical relevance of mitosis regulation/control mechanisms to identify novel cancer diagnostic and prognostic markers. He was part of the pioneering team that identified and characterized the genes involved in the mitotic checkpoint signaling, such as Bub1, BubR1, Bub3, and Mad2, in Drosophila melanogaster. Dr. Hassan has published more than 50 publications. Since 2014, he is the coordinator of PhD program in Biological Sciences Applied to Health, at CESPU.
Dr. Alexandra Guedes completed her degree in geology from the University of Porto, Portugal where she carried out research in the field of materials characterization. She is interested in soils forensic and in the applications of Raman spectroscopy to forensic problems. She has published over 80 research papers and is on the Editorial Boards of “Minerals”, “Open Journal of Geology” and “Geonovas”.
Dr. Teresa Magalhães (MD PhD) specialized in Legal medicine and is a Full Professor of Forensic Sciences in the University Institute of Health Sciences – CESPU, and the Faculty of Medicine of Porto University, Portugal. She is also the Director of the Forensic Science Master and PhD programs of Porto University. Her research focuses on maltreatment and sexual assault detection and diagnosis, supporting the necessary treatment, protection, security, and criminal measures, as well as in personal injury assessment and compensation.
Dr. Emilio Nuzzolese is a Forensic Odontologist, Researcher and Professor in Legal Medicine. He is Head of the Human Identification Laboratory, University of Turin, Italy. He graduated in dentistry (DDS) and in Science in Law (LLB) from the University of Bari, Italy. He holds a Research Doctorate degree (PhD) in Analytic Morphometry. Dr. Emilio is an expert witness in Civil/Penal Court and Human Rights activist. He is a member of INTERPOL DVI Forensic Odontology Sub-Working Group since 2010 and a founder of Civil Protection Association Dental Team DVI Europe. He remained a co-founder and President during 2019-2021 of the Association Forensic Odontology for Human Rights and a fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, since 2011. Besides, he is an Officer of the Italian Red Cross Military Corp and the Reserve Medical Corp IT Army.
Dr. Deepak Rawtani, M.E, PhD (CEng) is an Associate Professor of Nanotechnology and Associate Dean School of Pharmacy at National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar. His research is focused on forensic nanobiotechnology with special emphasis on DNA‐nanoparticle interaction and functionalization of halloysite nanotubes for enzyme immobilization, drug delivery, environmental applications. Dr. Rawtani is the author of more than 60 scientific papers and handbooks in his research domain with journals of international repute. Besides being a researcher, he is also a NABL empaneled Technical Assessor (ISO/IEC 17025).
Dr. Helena Isabel Ribeiro is a Palynologist at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto. Her specific areas of interest are pollen sampling and identification using microscopic and spectroscopic techniques and related data analysis. She is also interested in applying new pollen identification methods in the forensic context. Dr. Ribeiro teaches Palynology and Aerobiology at the Master and PhD courses on Forensic Sciences and is engaged in several seminars for high school students and workshops related to palynology.
Dr.S.Smys received his M.E and Ph.D degrees all in Wireless Communication and Networking from Anna University and Karunya University, India. His main area of research activity is localization and routing architecture in wireless networks. He serves as Associate Editor of Computers and Electrical Engineering (C&EE) Journal, Elsevier and Guest Editor of MONET Journal, Springer. He has published many research articles in refereed journals and IEEE conferences. He has been the General chair, Session Chair, TPC Chair and Panelist in several conferences. He has been serving as Organizing Chair and Program Chair of several International conferences, and in the Program Committees of several International conferences. Currently he is working as a professor in the Department of Information Technology at RVS technical Campus, Coimbatore, India.
Dr. Jun Zhang currently serves as a professor and Dean of Chemistry in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Inner Mongolia University. Dr. Zhang earned his Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from the College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering of Peking University in 2002. He was then invited to The French Institute of Health and Medical Research, Strasbourg, France for one year of postdoctoral research. He was appointed as a senior research scientist by Nomadics Inc.,Oklahoma, USA, from 2004-2006. Dr. Zhang’s research mainly focuses on rare earth and transition metal-based nanostructures for catalytic applications. Dr. Zhang has authored and co-authored more than 100 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Azevedo obtained his PhD in Astrophysics from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto in 2009. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor at Instituto Universitário de Ciências da Saúde (CESPU) and is responsible for curricular units in undergraduate and master’s degrees involving Mathematics/Statistics/Physics/Informatics applied to the Forensics Sciences. Dr. Azevedo is also a dissertation supervisor and a systems administrator.
Dr. Ignasi Galtés Vicente is a Forensic Physician at the Spanish Ministry of Justice, Department of Justice, Public Administration. He is also a staff member of Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, Catalonia (IMLCFC), staff member of Forensic Anthropology Unit (IMLCFC), an Associate Professor in Forensic and Legal Medicine, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), Researcher in the Departament de Biologia Animal, Biologia Vegetal i Ecologia. GROBGREAB (UAB) and Sociedad de Ciencias Aranzadi. Equipo Antropología Física.
Dr. Nelson Gomes holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Porto, Portugal and Integrated MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Coimbra degrees. His current research interests are focused on the therapeutic value of plants from Guinea-Bissauan and Thai flora. In 2017 he was appointed as invited Assistant Professor at Cooperativa de Ensino Superior Politécnico e Universitário. Dr. Gomes is actively enrolled in projects related to psychoactive plants and Forensic Chemistry. He has authored 26 peer-reviewed papers and 2 book chapters and has been frequently requested to act as a peer-reviewer for Cancer, Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, Marine Drugs, Molecules, amongst others.
Dr. Daniel Pérez-Mongiovi graduated in Fundamental Biology from the University of Malaga and received PhD Degree in Molecular and Cell Biology of Development from the University of Paris VI and Post PhD. in Molecular and Cell Biology at IBMC, University of Porto. He further completed his Postgraduate Diploma in Forensic Anthropology from the University of Coimbra. Dr. Mongiovi serves as a Vice-President of the Fiscal Council of the Portuguese Association of Forensic Sciences (APCF), a member of IALM and FASE organizations and an invited Assistant Professor at IUCS- CESPU.
Dr. Serenella Serinelli received her M.D. degree from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Rome, Italy. She trained in Forensic Pathology and received her Ph.D. in Infectious Diseases, Microbiology and Public Health from Sapienza, Università di Roma, Italy. She then moved to the State University of New York (SUNY) – Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, USA, where she works as a Research Scientist. She has written multiple books and book chapters and has authored numerous papers in international journals in the field of Pathology and Forensic Pathology. She has attended numerous international conferences as a speaker and is actively involved in teaching trainees by providing teaching conferences.
Dr Ritesh obtained his master's degree in Forensic Sciences and PhD in Nanomaterial Toxicology. Currently he is working as Assistant Professor at Ahmedabad University, India and his research work focused on Forensic Biotechnology and Forensic Nanotechnology. He has co-authored >35 research articles and 7 book chapters in International peer reviewed Journal/ Book. He has edited 2 books, Forensic Nanotechnology (2019) and Nanotoxicity (2020). He is recipient of Early Career Research Award from DST- SERB, Government of India in 2016. He has been associated as a forensic expert with Tata Consultancy Services since 2018. He is a member of various scientific societies including, "International Society for Forensic Genetics (ISFG)" and "Silk Road Forensic Consortium (SRFC)", China.
Dr. Diana Dias Silva is a Research Associate at the UCIBIO- Laboratory of Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmacy of University of Porto (FFUP) and a Lecturer at the University Institute of Health Sciences, Portugal. she holds a 6-year PharmD degree granted by FFUP. In 2009, she was awarded with an FCT fellowship to carry out her doctoral studies at FFUP and The Centre for Toxicology of The UCL London (UK). In 2013, she obtained her Eur. Ph.D in Forensic Sciences from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto with honor and distinction. In 2016, she became Secretary of the Board of the General Meeting of the Portuguese Association of Forensic Sciences (APCF).
Dr. Tiago Taveira-Gomes is a Medical Doctor specialized in Medicine. He serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Porto Medical School, Fernando Pessoa University and University Institute for Health Sciences - IUCS CESPU. He is a research fellow at Centre for Research in Health Technologies and Services – CINTESIS and Institute of Research and Advanced Training in Health Sciences and Technologies -IINFACTS. He obtained his Master’s Degree - Medical Doctor in 2012 and then his Doctoral Degree – Medicine in 2016. He has published in multiple Indexed Journals, reviewed papers for indexed Journals and presented in multiple conference proceedings.
Dr. Alexandra Teixeira graduated in Biochemistry and received her PhD Degree in Biomedical Sciences from University of Porto, where she also worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Molecular and Cell Biology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Forensic Anthropology from the University of Coimbra. She has also been a member of the Portuguese Association of Forensic Sciences (APCF) and IALM and FASE organizations. She was also an invited Assistant Professor at IUCS- CESPU.
