The publication of scientific research is a conscientious, systematic, and comprehensive process that requires efficiency and competence from both publishers and editors. To maintain high ethical standards and ensure publication of quality research, Bentham Science is committed to working closely with journal editors, authors, and peer reviewers at all stages of the publishing process.

The core principles of Bentham Science's publishing ethics, applicable to all individuals involved in the publication process, are as follows:

For Editors:

The editor of a journal holds a critical role in making key editorial decisions on all peer-reviewed articles submitted for publication.
The editor should uphold transparency in the academic research and publication records, ensuring that ethical standards are not compromised by professional or commercial interests. They should also be prepared to publish retractions, corrections, and errata when necessary.
Manuscripts should be evaluated objectively based solely on their scientific quality and intellectual content, without bias related to race, gender, geographical origin, or religion of the author(s). Editorial decisions must be based on academic merit, free from commercial influence or personal interests.
The editor must maintain strict confidentiality and must not disclose any information regarding submitted manuscripts before their official publication.
Ensuring research integrity is paramount. If Bentham Science suspects any form of research misconduct, it will thoroughly and promptly investigate, in collaboration with the appropriate authorities. Furthermore, any irregularities observed in the peer review process are addressed with diligence and transparency.

Responsibility of Reviewers:

Providing a detailed, constructive, and unbiased evaluation of the scientific content in a timely manner.
Assessing whether the writing is relevant, concise, and clear, while also evaluating the originality and scientific accuracy of the work.
Maintaining strict confidentiality throughout the entire review process.
Informing the journal editor of any financial or personal conflicts of interest and declining to review the manuscript if such a conflict exists.
Alerting the journal editor of any ethical concerns identified during the review process, including violations of ethical treatment of animal and/or human subjects or significant similarities between the reviewed manuscript and previously published articles.

For Authors:

All the work presented in the manuscript must be original and free from any kind of plagiarism.
The manuscript must not have been previously published or be under consideration by any other journal(s) at the time of submission to Bentham Science.
Any potential conflict of interest must be clearly disclosed.
Proper acknowledgements must be given to all referenced or cited works, whether from an individual, company, or institution. Permission must be obtained from other sources.
Only those who have made a substantial contribution to the interpretation or composition of the submitted work, should be listed as ‘Authors’; others should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section.
