Abstract

InsP6 with or without inositol enhances NK cell activity and stimulates polymorphonuclear cell priming function and the macrophages to produce cytokines. InsP6 can inhibit human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) replication; both InsP5 and InsP6 are critical in HIV particle assembly. InsP6 plays significant roles in mucosal protection in the gastrointestinal tract, and inflammation.
