Abstract

Precision medicine is an advancement of the traditional medication system. It has taken a drastic change in the healthcare sector. This arena has proved to be most beneficial in the treatment related to oncology, but besides that, precision medicine is useful in treating other diseases too, such as various infectious diseases, obesity, chronic diseases, and cardiovascular diseases. This concept of precision medicine has outperformed during the COVID-19 pandemic by evolving several remedies and adjudicating the effectiveness of diseases. While implementing the concept, there are many challenges faced. In this book chapter, a comprehension of all the challenges faced and their proposed solutions during the practice of precision medicine is discussed. In the latter part, various best practices followed while implementing precision medicine are also elaborated. Integration of technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science during application is also discovered.
