This chapter investigates the determinants of account-holding status among
ever-married women in India, utilizing data from the National Family Health Survey
(NFHS-5) for the period 2019-21. It explores three key aspects of financial inclusion:
access to bank or financial institution accounts, mobile phone ownership, and the use of
mobile phones for financial transactions. The study examines the relationship between
account-holding status and various socio-economic parameters, offering insights into
how factors such as place of residence, religion, economic status, education, age,
personal occupation, and the husband's education and occupation influence financial
inclusion. Methodologically, the analysis combines descriptive statistics and
econometric tools to provide a comprehensive understanding of financial accessibility
for ever-married women in India. The findings highlight the significant role of these
socio-economic factors in shaping women's financial inclusion.
