Introduction

Intelligent and sustainable manufacturing is a discipline that orchestrates areas pertaining to industrial services, products, and quality, and tends to contribute to the betterment of societies. The intelligent and sustainable manufacturing exhibits work using advanced methods and enables industrial systems to work efficiently, offering diverse options, and optimizing various industrial engineering and management perspectives with an emphasis on improving green production all over the globe, to reduce carbon content from the environment, and to improve the quality of life of human personnel. Thus, Intelligent and sustainable manufacturing and engineering are applied to various sectors like the automobile industry, aerospace, agriculture, food industries, medical, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, etc. In recent years, the development of different intelligent strategies and techniques of manufacturing has been dramatic. Now, it is essential to combine and implement these advanced intelligent and sustainable manufacturing techniques in industrial management to divert the world towards green production. The objective of this special issue is to collect data on Advancements in technology and management tools for intelligent and sustainable manufacturing with Industry 4.0 approach and covers fundamentals of big data informatics, digital twin, artificial intelligence, machine learning strategies, cyber physical intelligent system in production, block chain role, importance of information and communication technology, online and real time monitoring of manufacturing system with data acquisition and exchange program, online error troubleshooting of manufacturing system with data sensing approach and also covers different intelligent management tools; like nature and bio-inspired algorithms, multi objective optimization strategies to optimize process parameters of intelligent manufacturing system to enable flexibility and to address issues rises dynamic market of production with the help of Industry 4.0 approach.
