Bimal K. Banik

Dr. Banik is the Vice President of Research & Education Development of Community Health Systems of South Texas. He has been involved in research, teaching, mentoring, advising and administration in USA for the past 27 years. He was a Tenured Full Professor and President’s Endowed Professor at the University of Texas-Pan American. Dr. Banik has been awarded several million dollar grants by NIH, NCI and Private Foundation. Importantly, he has published and presented approximately 700 papers and patented numerous discoveries. He has received many national and international prestigious awards in diverse areas. Currently, he is the editor-in-chief of 4 journals.

R.S. Varma

Dr. Varma obtained his Ph.D. from Delhi University in 1976. After postdoctoral positions at Robert Robinson Laboratories, University of Liverpool, UK, he was a faculty member at Baylor College of Medicine, Senior Scientist at Houston Advanced Research Center, and Research Professor at Sam Houston State University prior to joining as senior scientist in the Sustainable Technology Division at US Environmental Protection Agency in 1999. He has over 40 years of research experience in management of multi-disciplinary technical programs ranging sustainable nanomaterials to development of eco-friendly synthetic methods using microwaves, ultrasound and mechanochemical mixing. He has published over 450 scientific papers, awarded 15 US Patents, 7 books, 27 book chapters and 3 encyclopedia contributions with (H-Index 89) and total citations ~ 25,000.

Prof. Chen is now working at Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2000, he was selected for Hundred Talents Program by CAS. In 2006, he was awarded National Science Fund of China for Distinguished Young Scholars. He has published about 250 research papers and 3 books during the last two decades. His current research interests include (1) synthesis of triptycene-derived macrocyclic hosts and their applications in supramolecular chemistry, (2) synthesis of novel chiral organic dyes and their applications in organic functional materials, (3) synthesis of helicene-based catalysts and their applications in catalytic asymmetric synthesis.

S. You

Shuli You was born in Henan, China, and received his BSc in chemistry from Nankai Univ. (1996). He obtained his PhD from Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC) in 2001 under the supervision of Prof. Lixin Dai before doing postdoctoral studies with Prof. Jeffery Kelly at The Scripps Research Institute. From 2004, he worked at the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation as a PI before returning to SIOC as a Professor in 2006. His research interests mainly focus on asymmetric C-H functionalization and catalytic asymmetric dearomatization (CADA) reactions.

B. Gabriele

Prof. Gabriele received the PhD in Chemical Sciences from the University of Calabria (Italy). After a research position at the University of Parma (Italy) with Professor Gian Paolo Chiusoli, he joined Prof. Ronald Breslow’s group at Columbia University (New York, USA) as a post-doc fellow for one year. He them came back to the University of Calabria, where he was promoted to Full Professor in 2006. He is author of more than 140 peer-reviewed papers in international journals and 15 patents. His research interests include the development of novel catalytic methods for the production of high value added molecules under sustainable conditions and the development of novel synthetic processes for carbon oxide reutilization

Dr. D.I.Brahmbhatt is Head(Ex.) and Professor of Organic Chemistry at Department of Chemistry, Sardar Patel University, Gujarat, India. He has 37 years of research and teaching experience. His research area is organometalic reaction, organic synthesis especially oxygen and nitrogen heterocycles, microwave assisted organic synthesis and synthesis of natural products. He has produced 22 Ph.D. students and published more than 60 research papers. He has remained as a chairman of board of studies in Chemistry, coordinator of UGC - CEAP(Center of Excellence in Applied Polymers) programme at S.P.University and member on board of CAS (Center for Advanced Study) programme at Department of Chemistry, S.P.University and acted as a committee member in different committees at Sardar Patel University.

Maddali L. N. Rao obtained Ph.D. in 1996 from the University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad, India. He had carried out post doctoral research in Japan and USA before joining IIT Kanpur in the year 2003. Dr. Rao with more than 20 years of research experience is currently Professor in the Department of Chemistry, IIT Kanpur. M. Waser

Mario Waser currently holds the position of an Assoc. Prof. at the Institute of Organic Chemistry at the Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria. Being a native Austrian, he studied chemistry an obtained his PhD in Linz (supervisor Prof. Heinz Falk), followed by a postdoctoral stay in the group of Prof. Alois Fürstner (MPI für Kohlenforschung in Mülheim, Germany). After working as an R&D chemist for DSM for two years, he started his independent career in 2009. His main research interests are on the design and application of asymmetric organocatalysts, on ammonium enolate-mediated reactions and on the use of hypervalente iodine-based reagents.

Dr. Yue is Professor of Physical chemistry in Fudan University, China. He received his Ph.D. degree from Fudan University in 1995, and has been working at Fudan since then. In 2003, he was promoted to full Professor. He worked in University Paris VI as a post doctor during 1998-1999. His research interests focus on acid/base catalyst and its application in petrochemical and fine chemical industry, including zeolites, mesoporous molecular sieves and carbon-based materials. He has coauthored over 140 publications and 15 patents.

G. Brahmachari

Dr. Brahmachari presently holds the position of full professor of chemistry at Visva-Bharati (a Central University), India. He received Ph.D. (Organic Chemistry) in 1997 from the same University and joined his alma mater as assistant professor in 1998. He has about 18 years of experience in both teaching and research at the University level. He has supervised several PhD students so far, and produced nearly 160 scientific publications including original research papers, review articles, books and invited book chapters in the fields of natural products and green chemistry. He has authored/edited 17 books and more than 30 book chapters so far published by internationally reputed major presses. He is the Series Editor of the Elsevier Book Series ‘Natural Product Drug Discovery’, and Editor-in-Chief of Signpost Open Access journal of Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry (ISBN: 2321-4163). Prof. Brahmachari is a Who’s Who in the World-2015 & 2016 Listee, and also a recipient of Academic Brilliance Award-2015 (Excellence in Research).

C.R.D. Correia

Prof. Correia obtained his PhD degree from Stanford University, USA. He started his independent career at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He then moved to the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), Brazil, where he is currently full professor. He acted as head of Graduate Studies Committee, and as vice-director of the Institute for the period 2009 – 2010. Prof. Correia is the recipient of the 3M "Non-Tenured Faculty Award", and the “Unicamp Zeferino Vaz Excellence Award”. He has published more than 100 papers and is named inventor of 8 patents. His main research interests are in homogeneous metal-catalyzed reactions, ligand design, and development of new synthetic methodologies.

A.W.M. Lee

Professor Lee obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles. He did postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institution of Technology under the supervision of Prof. Barry Sharpless. Prof. Lee joined Baptist University in 1982 and advanced through the years to Chair Professorship. He was Head of Department of Chemistry for 10 years. His research interests are organic synthesis, analytical science and science education. Prof. Lee is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
