Coordination Chemistry

Publishes original research articles, letters, case reports, reviews/mini-reviews and guest edited thematic issues on various topics related to Coordination Chemistry. 

The Coordination Chemistry section of Current Indian Science publishes original research papers, short communications, mini-reviews, reviews, and guest-edited thematic issues on various topics related to Coordination Chemistry.

Articles may be focused largely confined to experimental and theoretical science of structure, properties, energetics, clusters, surfaces, and bulk characterization of coordination complexes.

This section is not limited to a specific aspect of the field but is instead devoted to a wide range of sub-fields in the area. Articles of multi-disciplinary nature are particularly welcome. Submissions in the following areas are of special interest to the readers of this journal:

Prof. Maurya earned D.Sc. degree from Ran Durgavati University in 1995 and in the same university he was a Professor and Head in the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy and Dean Faculty of Science. He has been an elected Fellow of the Institution of Chemists, India (CChem FIC) for two decades. He has also been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Great Britain, UK (CChem FRSC) in 2008. He won several awards, such as Golden Jubilee Excellence Award by the Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya in 2006 and the Best Science Research Teacher Award in 2012. Dr. Maurya has participated in various symposia and conferences in India and abroad. He has also visited abroad several times in connection with the presentation of his research contributions. Prof. Maurya has supervised 50 M.Phil. dissertations and 41 Ph.D. and one D.Sc. theses under his efficient guidance. He has published over 250 research papers and 16 review articles in various National and International journals of repute. He has recently published seven books and also contributed five book chapters. Prof. Maurya is now an editorial board member of a couple of Research Journals of National and International repute, and is Referee/Reviewer of more than a dozen research journals of India and abroad. His research interest is in metal complexes of Bioinorganic, Catalytic and Medicinal Relevance, their 3D-Molecular modelings and Quantum Chemical DFT based Structural Parameters with Computer Simulations. His research group is presently working on metal complexes of NO, CO and H2S. Over 200 research papers of Dr. Maurya has been documented in Google Scholar and cited in more than 3000 other international publications with h-index 28 and i-10-index 94.

Dr. Sumanta Bhattacharya is currently working as a Professor in the Department of Chemistry, The University of Burdwan. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from The University of Burdwan in 2003 and performed post-doctoral research as a JSPS fellow in SUMS, Japan during 2005-2007. He joined The University of Burdwan in 2007 as a Reader in Chemistry. Dr. Bhattacharya has completed 8 research projects of various funding agencies like CSIR, SERB-DST, UGC, WB-DST and DAE during his service and is the recipient of many awards like S. R. Palit Young Scientist Research Award from Indian Chemical Society in 2003, FAST Track Research award in 2007, DAE Young Scientist Research award in 2010, UGC Research Award in 2014 (ranked 1st among all the candidates in India) & William J. Acree award from COGNIZURE in 2015 for outstanding research in Physical Chemistry. Very recently, Dr. Bhattacharya was nominated as a Member of National Academy of Sciences India. Dr. Bhattacharya has published more than 115 research papers in journals of high national and international repute including one in Nature Nanotechnology in 2007. Till date, six numbers of research students have got their Ph.D. degree under his supervision. He is a potential reviewer for various national and internal research journals.

Prof. Goutam Kumar Patra did Ph.D. from Jadavpur University, under the supervision of Prof. Dipankar Datta at Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata. Then he joined Tel Aviv University, Israel, as a postdoctoral research fellow with Prof. Israel Goldberg (2000–2002). Subsequently he moved to the Carnegie Mellon University, USA where he worked with Prof. Catalina Achim. Then he joined as Asst. Prof. in Vijoygarh Jyotish Ray College, Kolkata in December 2003. He visited Max Planck Institute of Bioinorganic Chemistry, Mülheim, Germany as a BOYSCAST fellow during 2006–07 and worked with the then Director, Prof. Karl Wieghardt. He is a Professor in Guru Ghasidas Central University, Bilaspur since 2012 and former Dean School of Physical Science (2012-15 and 2018-21). His research interests include chemosensor, redox activity, azamacrocyclic chemistry, crystal engineering, porphyrin and supramolecular chemistry, peptide nucleic acids (PNAs) and free radical chemistry. So far, he has published more than hundred research papers in the journals of national and international repute.

He has also been a member of important University bodies like Board of Studies, Academic Council, Executive Council and University Court. Prof. Shakir has organized a number of National and International Conferences in the Department of Chemistry, A.M.U, Aligarh and has represented Aligarh Muslim University as a speaker in several International Conferences.

Sushil Kumar Gupta is a Professor of Chemistry at Jiwaji University, Gwalior, India. Dr. Gupta received master’s level training in Inorganic Chemistry from the L. N. Mithila University, Darbhanga and doctoral training in Coordination Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. In addition to conducting research, Dr. Gupta teaches Inorganic Chemistry, Spectroscopy and X-ray Crystallography to postgraduate students. Dr. Shahid obtained Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from AMU, Aligarh, India in 2011. During his Ph.D., he worked on Synthesis, spectral and single crystal X-ray crystallographic characterization of novel mono or polynuclear complexes of transition, rare earth and tin metal ions and designing of 1D, 2D and 3D networks. He did his B.Sc.in Physics, Chemistry & Maths and M.Sc. in Chemistry from CSJM Kanpur. He did his Post-Doctoral fellowship of DST, New Delhi on designing of molecule based MAGNETS. He has been teaching Inorganic Chemistry to the undergraduate and postgraduate students in Department of Chemistry, AMU, Aligarh India. He has an expertise in Synthesis of polynuclear clusters which are characterized employing Single Crystal X-ray Crystallography and other modern Spectroscopic techniques like FTIR, Mossbauer, NMR, MS and EPR. He has been awarded Fast Track Young Scientist award by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India and Research Associate award by CSIR, New Delhi. Recently, He has been awarded the "Outstanding Faculty Award in Science (Major-Chemistry)" by Venus International foundation, Chennai in July 2019. Currently, he is involved as Principal Investigator in a Research Project of DST, New Delhi, on Designing and magnetic studies of Molecular Nano-magnets which are described as Single Molecule Magnets or SMMs (Aug 2012-July 2015). He is a member of various societies including American Chemical Society (Inorganic Chemistry Division). He has read research papers in various national and international conferences/symposia. He is also Academic Editor of some international journals of repute like PLOS ONE (IF = 4.0) and Associate Editor of J. Trans. Met. Dr. Abhinav Kumar did PhD in Chemistry from Banaras Hindu University, and joined as Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, University of Lucknow in 2009. Dr. Abhinav did research in the area of Coordination Chemistry dealing with transition as well as main group metals, where his research group worked on the synthesis and characterization of targeted dithiolate complexes. Besides, his group is working to develop targeted Coordination Polymers (CPs)/Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) as sensors for nitroaromatic explosives and as photocatalysts for safe degradation of aromatic dyes in waste-water discharge. Dr. A.S. Aswar is presently working as Professor and Head of the Department of Chemistry, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University. He obtained his M.Sc. degree in 1986 and Ph.D degree in 1989 from Nagpur University, Nagpur. His research interests are in coordination and solid state chemistry, catalysis, solvent extraction and molecular interactions. He has guided 30 Ph.D’s and 15 M.Phil students. Dr. Aswar made a notable contribution in different areas of chemistry and published over 188 research papers in various national and international journals of repute and also authored two text books for B.Sc.III. He has organized more than 14 national conferences /workshops/seminars in various thrust areas of chemistry and organized six refresher courses in chemistry. He has participated in several symposia / conferences/workshops in India and abroad and presided over many technical sessions and worked as a jury also. He is a referee for several scientific journals in chemistry as well as for Ph.D. thesis of various Indian universities and has also worked on the panel of selection committee in various universities, research institutes and colleges. Dr.Aswar is a fellow and life member of several professional societies.
