Open Access Publications by Bentham Science Publishers

In April 2007 Bentham Open (www.benthamscience.com/open) was launched providing the online publication of open access journals. To date nearly 300 open access journals have been launched devoted to various disciplines in science, medicine, technology and social sciences. Bentham Open is rapidly becoming one of the world’s largest publishers of quality open access journals. A number of Nobel Laureates and eminent scientists have enthusiastically endorsed the open access movement and Bentham Open.

Open Access Journals provide free access to readers to the full text of research articles (usually via the Internet) for immediate worldwide dissemination in order to serve the best interests of the research community. All interested readers can read, download, and/or print open access articles at no cost. There are no subscription fees for open access journals. The modest open access publication costs are usually covered by the author's institution or research funds. Having a typical author-based fee model, these open access journals present a sharp contrast to the traditional subscription-based journals. However, open access journals are no different from traditional subscription-based journals, as they undergo the same peer-review and quality control as any other scholarly journal.

Authors who publish in open access journals retain the copyright of their article. All published articles are deposited immediately upon publication in at least one widely and internationally recognized open access repository based on field and are subject to receiving more citations compared to print journals.

Bentham Open’s journals publish reviews, full-length research papers, short communications, supplements, conference proceedings and book reviews.

Bentham Open is confident of their journals’ rapid success and encourages researchers from all disciplines to publish with at journals. You may also wish to propose a new open access journal by contacting us at oa@benthamscience.org
