Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman, FRS, has been awarded the Civil Award "Grand Decoration of Honor in Gold with Sash" of the Austrian Government. The award was conferred on him by Dr. Johannes Hahn, Australian Federal Minister of Science and Research, for bringing revolutionary changes in the higher education sector in Pakistan which is being regarded as a model for the developing world, and for establishing strong linkages with Austrian universities.
